Thread: Any lawyers out there?

I have a question regarding tradmarking my dance co name

They will give you the info you need. Usually you will trademark something if you have a logo or specific lettering that goes with your name. I trademarked my logo for bellydancewear, it took time (about 1 1/2 years) but it was possible. You can apply online and I only hired an attorney once to make an affidavit to submit to them. So other than the fee they charge and a couple hunderd to the attorney it didn't cost much. You could hire a trademark attorney and it will cost at least $1000+. My friend hired an attorney to do hers at the same time I did mine and it cost her about $1500 I believe and that was with a discount (from her friend), but hers was completed in less time. I had to keep going back and forth with them to see what it was they wanted. It was difficult and a friend of mine helped determine their legal language and what they were requesting, but I am glad I did it. It was quite a learning experience and I was proud of myself for doing it all without an attorney (plus all the money I saved!!).

Thanks for the info. I don't have a logo, however, I just want to keep my name! Any suggestions?
