It's beautiful! Clean, easy to use, eye-catching.
And I'm drooling over your double veil photo in the woods. Stunning!

Re: Allow Me to Brag: My New Website!
Thank you, everyone. I know I don't have quite the typical set of promotional imagery, but I'm glad that I've been able to create pictures that appeal to dancers and non-dancers alike. And I'm lucky to have such a great bunch of photographers that really know how to shoot me.
Khalima - your avatar! I LOVE it!!!

Re: Allow Me to Brag: My New Website!
Shems, Brian is amazing. Working with him is like having a business partner every step of the way. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about him!
Shahrzad (Vasha Hatal) can vouch for him too! He designed a gorgeous website for her, as well.
I'll tip you off that it may be somewhere in the neighborhood of a 4-costume expense, but as we BDers like to say, you get what you pay for ..g.: And the technology he uses is so much further ahead of the curve, which translates to a site that ranks high in the search engines and makes updating a breeze.

It's really beautiful, I am tempted too. I had actually been thinking about it since I saw Jaida's website a while back, but this has renewed my interest...g.:

Yeah, I second Andalee's amazement. You're GOOD!
And you're making me want to learn PhotoShop like nobody's business.

Re: Allow Me to Brag: My New Website!
Thanks, but I wouldn't claim to know photoshop, I've just followed instructions out of a book. I wouldn't say the program itself is either simple or intuitive, but anybody can use it with decent instructions. I'm sure you could get a more knowledgeable recommendation from a photographer or from bhuz, but the book that I've used is layperson-friendly, and the instructions are step-by-step (there are newer/older versions of the book corresponding to different versions of the software):

Re: Allow Me to Brag: My New Website!
Great job! It definitely projects personality, you've got all the info even a reluctant client might want to know upfront, and your copy masters the tricky mix "professional dancer, real person"
I love that it's built in Wordpress! I won't work in anything else anymore. It's SO powerful, and it means clients with no web knowledge at all can update their own content (and even the design itself) without having to ask the designer for help again - saving major bucks down the road.
Anyone else thinking of having a site designed (or even trying to do it yourself) should look into Wordpress. It's NOT just for blogs anymore!
I'm a bit of a Wordpress evangelist I guess :)
And yes, I know I'm a geek ;)

Re: Allow Me to Brag: My New Website!
Awesome webbie! OMG girl you can put a brown bag on your head and still look gorgeous! YOU made the website look beautiful.
Just for the heck of it I went into your 2 cents on rates and I died when I read: "Two or three belly dancers might charge significantly less – up to $50, $100, even $200 less – for the same service or possibly an even longer set. Seldomly, a dancer might offer to do the Shawarma Shuffle or the Falafel Fandango." (Carrara Nour, 2009)
Shawarma Shuffle.... Falafel Fandango looooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
Hugs,
Amani
