    Smash Party Entertainment?

I guess this thread would be directed more to the NY community, as I think they are a NY based entertainment company...

I found their website via google search and noticed that they had pictures of basically the best bellydancers in NY on their website: http://www.smashpartyentertainment.c...lydancers.html

Are they for real? I tried to do some investigative snooping, just to make sure they were a legit site and not sending out belly bunnies while showing pictures of Tarik Sultan, Layla Isis, Kaeshi, etc......

I got a quote of $500 for a 20 minute show. I mean, if these are the dancers they are really sending out, then by all means I think they are worth $500! And more power to them if they can get that! But they wouldn't tell me who the dancers were, only that the dancers on their site all work for them. And $500 is basically more than double the average rate for a 20 min show in NY.

So...are they for real? Or would an unsuspecting customer end up paying $500 for Suzie Nippletassels?

Just butting in to speculate. My first instinct was to mistrust -- those are big name dancers, and I'd think they'd be billed by name if they were signed on!

But of course, those names mean a lot to us within the community, not much to a party booker.

Did you look at their list of clients? Holy mackerel. They must be providing some pretty top-notch entertainment to keep those corporations happy!

Yeah, I'm really curious to know if they are for real or not. I mean, I'm sure their client list is real, but event big name clients don't know the difference between a good and not-so-good bellydancer.

Anyone listed on the site want to chime in? Or do you know someone listed on the site and know that they really do work for this company?

Thanks Amy, that's good to know. Well, good for them for demanding such incredible prices!

    Hi Daniela!

I actually don't work for that company anymore - I did only once or twice a couple of years ago. I think she must be getting a huge comission, because those prices do not reflect what she would be paying the dancers. (Partly why I don't work for her anymore - lord knows, I would def keep the gig if I was getting paid $500 for 20 min show!) I just looked at the site and couldn't believe that not only is my picture still up there, but she copied part of my bio word for word as promo for the bellydancer page!! not cool.

But, I do know several great, accomplished bellydancers who do work for her - Jeniviva, Sira, Ayana.....so, I would expect that clients get the real deal and not nipple-tasslers!
Thanks for refering to me as big name ! he-he. :)

No problem! I've seen you dance, and you are GOOD!

One of the reasons I was suspect about that site was because all of the pictures I saw were pics that were on those dancers' websites. It would be really easy to just copy and paste the pics onto her own website.

Thanks for responding, it's good to know the site is mostly legit!

I work for Smash on a regular basis. The girls on their site work for them as well, Ive been on gigs with them. I think you got the wrong pricing though, I think they get $500 for shows outside of NYC since we do have to travel I know I change Smash more than my regular fee. If they get $500 or $5000 who cares, I get calls from them all the time and get booked more from them then any other agency. They are honest and pay quickly. As for Layla I would think you could never get that kind of money on your own, your not a large company with insurance and a reputation like they have in the industry.
I cant say enough good things about them
