A 15 minute show downtown for $100
FINALLY, we have slapped some sense into people. When will other restaurants catch up to this one?

Now here's an owner that treats the staff with respect: pay scale up to $115 for one show.

At last, we're on our way to pay rates worthy of our time. There is still more work to be done, but together, we can win. Overcutters Unite!

wow how would it be?
I dance at our local/only ME restaurant in SLC for $25 for 2-3 shows and maby $10 in tips...maby...I really just do it for the performance aspect...to stay on my toes since obviously it dosn't pay.

One part of the "performance aspect" is getting compensated for it...don't shortchange yourself!

There are not other options in the restaurant scene here. of course that will change as ever it does. There used to be 5 performace restaurants in town that paid up to $75 per 2 fifteen minute sets. But that was 4-5 years ago.
I could just not do it...not dance there.
But there are benefits besides money that rehersal dosn't do.

Please don't let that be known in Boulder/Denver, we've worked *really* hard to get our prices up to $65 a show.....
If the restaurant owners here that, we are in trouble.....

The restaurant where I schedule dancers, we are being paid $65 one show $85 for two, and that's the most any of us EVER got in Boulder/Denver.

all it takes is ONE person coming in dancing for $35 bucks or whatever, and all that hard work goes down the drain.

hi shahravar,
i totally understand dancing for the sake of dance, but don't undersell yourself. i dance for the sake of performance as well, but only at certain venues, for charity, haflas, festivals (some do pay btw) etc... it can also pay well if you work at it. in restaurants, parties, weddings, etc...it's good to charge at least the going rate so we can keep it at a reasonable level for all.

as maria said, just please don't let anyone in the restaurant business know you are charging that rate as they will expect us to lower our rates. .w.:

Great news! I concur with Shems, Ahmed was always incredibly nice to me when I was dancing there.

Yay! The flip side of demanding higher pay is making a point of patronizing the places that pay and treat us well. Let the owner (or at least the hostess) know that you came to see the show, and that you've heard (and appreciate) that this is a dancer-friendly venue.
