Amazing how much more information is out there now than there was when I was a baby-dancer!

Thank you SatinWorship, I sent your link to my troupemates. There's a few girls that may aspire to be professionals one day and I'd like to share this priceless wisdom with them before they made the same mistakes I made when I first went pro. My instructor/colleague didn't know how to charge, and so I had to learn the hard way which is no fun.

Nobody's perfect when they first start out. I did a handful of dumb things as a baby-beginner, and I had an amazing teacher! Could only imagine how hard it is to go at this with no guidance at all...or with misguided guidance .w.:

A girl after my own heart I'm big on lecturing this stuff to new dancers, and gently reminding our locals what the minimum rates are.
I actually have offered a 2 hour lecture topic at my workshops for the last 5 years on "Becoming a Professional Dancer" it covers everything a dancer should know before going pro, and salary/rates is a huge part of it!!

Aradia, that's an awesome idea. I know if I taught classes, I'd start drilling this stuff even at the intermediate student level. It's never too soon to start weighing all the details on rates, professionalism and what it's like to be a pro dancer!

Samira, is it true that your rates page was last updated in Dec 2007? Are you looking for new information for this page?

Woops- I'm ALWAYS happy to receive new rate info. I update what I receive every few months.
The last time I did a post requesting new info I got very little response. I guess it's time to do another.

I PM'ed you some good stuff awhile ago. I'm all in favor of an update!
