Thread: Music Recommendations for a Bridal Shower

So I just figured out what a bridal shower is. The bride and groom a requesting Shakira (ugh) and they are very American. Can anyone else suggest some American crowd pleasing tunes for this kind of shindig?

I second that! I think Natacha Atlas is an especially good choice.

second tanya's sword suggestion and natacha atlas. also, depending on how long your set is, throw in a clubby mix like the stuff on bellylicious for getting people up to dance.

I did one last week - keep it moving with pop.

I agree - Hakim, Saad, and Now Bellydance cds. I think I pulled a few songs off the Bellydance Superstars cd too..

I find that GP audiences really get a kick out of realizing that you're dancing to song they actually know.

Thanks guys, I think alot of those pop songs will be a hit. I wonder why these people are having a bellydancer perform at their bridal shower. I was confusing a shower with a bachlorette party, because I suggested to a friend, "I hope they dont expect a stripper" and she corrected me on what a bridal shower really is, to my embarrassment.

I've performed at several bridal showers - most recently about a month ago. I would guess it's so the whole family can enjoy your performance, while usually a bachelorette party is more the younger, partying segment of the wedding party.

I have two this month! They are a blast to do ;-)
