Re: Flyer software
What I LIKE to make flyers with is photoshop- but that's on my dad's computer & I can't afford it right now! So, what I USE is Print Shop- I have a Mac too- you get nice results for a lot less, tho you have to make do without a lot of the bells & whistles. I'll see if I can figure out how to post my latest flyers for an example...

Re: Flyer software
I prefer Adobe InDesign. You can buy 30 day trials of any Adobe software program.

Re: Flyer software
I have heard great things about InDesign too... but it's $700 as opposed to $40 for Print Shop- so it depends on how much it's worth to you and how much you will be using it. For that matter, you can do a basic flyer fairly nicely just in Word- you just wouldn't have all the photo editing tools there, but you can get a good basic layout, like this one:

Re: Flyer software
You could see if Photoshop Elements might meet your needs. It has fewer functions than Photoshop CS4, but often enough for the non-professional editor, and it costs $139 as opposed to $699.
I use Premiere Elements (the basic version of Adobe's film editing program), and I find that it has more than enough functionality for my needs as an amateur DVD-maker.
It might be worth considering!

Re: Flyer software
If you're on mac you could try the iWork suite. The 'Pages' program does word processing as well as page layout and they have heaps of templates that are easily customizable.
I currently use a combination of 'photoshop elements' and 'pages' for doing print adverts.
downside of photoshops elements: it doesn't do masks like full version
downside of pages: for some reason the page layout doesn't have an option for setting crop marks.
btw how old is your mac? are you running at least tiger?
