Newsletter question
I usually send a newsletter at around the first of the month...However, this month I have no news to report. Should I send a short little something or just ignore this month? I don't want to create crap just to send it, however, I have a bunch of new students and a newsletter might be a good way to engage them.
What do you think?

Re: Newsletter question
Send it. Nice way to make the newbies feel involved. Plus they will feel special being in the loop. You could include references to future plans - holiday gigs, area seminars, Spring Shows, possible costume concepts, interesting DVDs, etc.

Re: Newsletter question
Maybe send out on the flier workshops, haflas and such that are happening within 100 mile radius of you.

Re: Newsletter question
I always enjoy receiving a newsletter of some sort - and, it is a great way to let the students know what is going on in the area. Even small quotes or a CD or DVD recommendation - anything at all is always appreciated!

- Hire a bellydancer for your next event! (mention discount for students)
- Check out this great website resource -- (link)
- Check out this youtube clip related to what we've been learning (link)
- Notice about my openness to feedback -- invitation to share ideas or even criticisms with me
- Upcoming events in the area
- New shipment of hip scarves just in/on its way
Re: Newsletter question
I have to send mine out every 6 weeks to announce new registration, but I don't always have enough to say to fill all the little boxes in the template I use.
Here's what I use for filler
I think sharing upcoming events and a link or two would be nice.

Re: Newsletter question
Can you create a little article on student costuming or something similar that they might find useful?

Re: Newsletter question
You could always write something humorous. I would think that skipping an issue might make people jittery that it won't come back or that there are problems, which would invite speculation. Or maybe I'm just still spooked after Habibi magazine?
