Thread: YATQ: Yet Another Tipping Question...

Had a situation arise the other nite that I'd never run into before. Dancing at a restaurant as a guest dancer. Largely a BD crowd, but everyone, dancers and non, were in a tipping mood. Every dancer only had 8 minutes to accommodate everyone who wanted to dance, so I had one of my "mini-routines" in play.

Ok, so I'm making a rather quick pass through the crowd, getting tips when one gal just couldn't work up the courage to tuck that dollar bill in there - even after I totally stopped the usual teasing shimmy. She ended up wasting quite a bit of time, so I missed out on some other tips - and some other fun.

How to handle? I've never had this happen before.

The missed tips were no big deal, it probably would have been another $5; what I missed more was the opportunity to play with more audience members! Other people in the audience were a bit miffed also - they wanted their share of the fun!

How would my sisters in dance handle this?

I don't stand there, long. I try to coax them a little but then i say "it ok, he/she'ss shy! I'll come back!" And I shimmy on. If I have time to come back I do. Second time is the charm

I have had this before and if you are comfortable, you can just put your hand out and stick it in yourself. If not, I would just let them know it is okay and come back later if you have time.

Move on!!!!! You have no time to waste on other peoples issues, sweetcheeks. You sure as hell aren't there to help them through therapy! lol! Dont even pay attention, just move on because they can give that $1 to some other dancer thoughout the night.

The only thing more annoying than this situation when you try to get someone up to dance, and she takes her sweet time with it. She keeps refusing, but you can tell she wants to go, she just want you to "beg" her. I get annoyed, because
1. I have no time for this
2. others seeing this behavior are less likely to get up and dance themselves.

I'm not talking about when someone doesn't want to dance, just those that want the "royal treatment" and attention.

With tipping - it's not worth it to waste time, and bring the energy down for a few bucks. Like others said, move on, and come back if you have time.
