Song to have BDay boy dancing...
Hi, lately, everytime people in my area think about hiring me is when they want to celebrate their 50th husband's Bday and they ask me to play with him a little, usually, I kind of make women dance, have a easy song to show some move and get the girls on party. This time I know the man, he is a ballroom dance teacher, I know he'll be a gentlemen and enjoys dance so I feel safe doing it. We tought setting up a competition between him and me for getting tips in the crowd and people asking him to improve to deserve his tip and get it only at the end of the song... to get the crowd laugh a little, what kind of song would you suggest me? What tempo?
Waiting for comments
Thank you!

I always use Walid Toufic's Inzil ya Gameel - it's on the CD NOW That's What I Call Arabia Vol. 9

Thanks Laura, yeaaaahhh I've heard this one that's fun, and I also have thet happy birthday from Salatin El Tarab Orchestra, but I I'd like to look for something to use for a tipping competition, I shimmy in front of a guest and then I ask him to do the same, any other suggestion?

Maybe a drum solo with very defined call and response sections....

Yup, that's what I had in mind, but I'll be in a hall and I'll need to get him on the dancefloor in a sneaky way before the drum starts
Ok here is the 12 minutes set for the moment:
-Shamadan (Zeina)(3:40)
-(get a happy song to flirt the BBoy and get him on the dancefloor for the end of the song)
-Drum solo wih BBoy
-Easy song from Saad to to get public dancing with me and show basic moves") . 4:09
Maybe I'll put a longer drum, start alone, flirt and and get him... Cuz 4 minutes goes fast...
Thanks!!!
Anything to improve?

Only one thing to consider..If he wins, does he keep the tip money?

Re: Song to have BDay boy dancing...
Good point, hahaha, in fact I know that crowd ain't a tipping type of crowd, so I'll prepare money for me and get his wife to prepare money for him, she'll be the tipper (she gives my money to me first and then gives him the money) and if people are starting to tip... whatever gets to me is mine and what is going to him will be his...
(The set up is I get 10$ right away, she show she prepares 10$ for him but when he comes she changes her mind and gives him a quarter, and make the "so so hand" and he gets the 20$ after, so he wins...)
That set up was clear from beginning at least...Last edited by malika_baladi; 11-11-2009 at 04:31 PM.
