Thread: Heavy-duty studio curtain sources

Not completely sure if this is the right place to post this, but we're in the process of winterizing a new studio. One wall is pretty much a giant window and we need to add some heavy curtains to help keep the heat in the studio.

Ideally, we need 10 feet long curtains, we've checked Ikea, Target and those types of places, but no luck. Anyone happen to know any good sources heavy-duty/theatrical curtains?

Check discount fabric stores. You can buy bolts and cut to your needs. We purchased back drop fabric for shooting for less than $4/yard.

Since curtains are really easy to make, maybe checking into JoAnn etc. could solve the problem? Chances are that for non-standard sizes, you will also save money (for standard sizes, you can't beat Ikea's prices).

I agree with the other ladies. I have found in the past (when I lived in cold country) that upholstry grade velvet made the best studio drapes. If lined with white (cheap cotton) they can also keep out the heat in summer.

We've looked at some fabric stores, but it's an entire wall, so we're going to need a lot of fabric...but maybe I will check some online fabric sources.
