Re: Talk to Me About Google AdWords
Okay, I just set up three new ad variants, with the word fun in them, different photos, and trying different destinations (one to my company facebook page, one to my instructional page on my website, and one specific to a workshop I'm teaching).
I will report back if my success improves.

Re: Talk to Me About Google AdWords
Okay, reporting back. My new ads were just approved and I've already had > 6000 impressions and two clicks -- on an ad for my upcoming beginner workshop! Woohoo!!
So, not sure if it's the "added fun" (lol), the photo change, or the bid increase, or all three, but thanks Samira, for the tips!

Re: Talk to Me About Google AdWords
Okay, so I took advantage of the coupon I got from VistaPrint. It was easier than I thought, and we'll see what happens. Google Places? Not so much. I can't find myself there, I'm not sure if my listing shows up at all; it says I got two clicks, but ...
Like many of you, I am skeptical of sponsored links, but then again, some folks who are rather successful in my area are highly visible via Google AdWords, so I think I need to give it a shot.

Just got a $25 credit for FB ads. Trying it out. Thanks Samira and Sedonia for the insight!

Re: Talk to Me About Google AdWords
holy crap. Ad has been up for 3 hours and only targeted to women ages 16 and over living within 40 miles from my studio, but I got 29,000 views and 11 clicks... already at $12 spent...
I think I am doing this wrong. eek. Good thing I capped it at $15 per day. I think I'll reduce that amount to $10 and lower the miles limit...
Has anyone advertising for basics classes limited the reach to include profile words like "fitness" or "dance"? I would think that limits it too much, but from the response I got, maybe not.

Re: Talk to Me About Google AdWords
LOL maybe it was because I included "fun" in the ad copy :P

Re: Talk to Me About Google AdWords
Yes I think I'll try that. I put the age limit at 16 because I thought maybe they can get themselves to a class easier and I teach all ages, but then I also thought....hmmm bored 16 year olds clicking on an ad with no intention of taking the class.
Exposure is great, but I want to get some actual students out of this!
Time to start experimenting with target words!

I guess I wasn't expecting that big of a response.

Re: Talk to Me About Google AdWords
I'm doing a $2 day Google Adword limit, and my ad has been popping up all over the place. I have DEFINITELY been getting more enquiries about gigs and more actual shows! My Adwords bill was $70 this month, which is more than covered by even one gig. Yay!

Re: Talk to Me About Google AdWords
spent all this time putting together an ad campaign, and now when I click "save" to submit my billing info (and coupon code that expires soon!) it just keeps spinning and "processing"! Not a very good intro into this... :/

Re: Talk to Me About Google AdWords
okay, googlefail going on here!
I tried submitted using the Firefox browser instead, and it worked fine! AdWords wouldn't work on Chrome, Google's very own browser! Wow...
