another pricing question
I was just contacted about possible classes at two libraries. They would be one time classes at each library for an hour for groups of 6th to 12th graders as a summer thing. One library is only 30 mins from where I live the other is about an hour away. I know to charge for driving distance, but I haven't worked with anything like this before. They want a dance lesson, plus some background information on culture and history of the dance. What would you charge?
Oh, and the town where I live I'm pretty much the only bellydancer. So my rates scare everyone! lol The closest town that has a good number of *performing* dancers is about an hour and 15 mins away....
Thanks!

The fact that there aren't as many gigs out where you are is balanced by the fact that there aren't as many dancers either.
I recommend basing your rate on the nearest metropolitan rates. If they hire one of those gals they'll be paying those rates PLUS much more in mileage.

Re: another pricing question
Thanks so much! ..g.: I've never done anything with a school or library. If it were a retaurant gig or something like that I would be a little more in the know"

Re: another pricing question
i would charge 125E for the one near buy and 150E for the one further away.
i also would make clear this does NOT include a performance.

Re: another pricing question
Well, it's a one time event, so definitely more than a restaurant. It takes LONGER than a show onsite, but without all the costume etc take less in prep time than a show.
My rate for a one time lesson (with no show) is $150 when it's educational and not "party based".

Re: another pricing question
same here, i make a difference between these things, when it's really obviously a "dance class" (in an adult ed centre, a school, a sports festival etc), and when it's more like a party (party rate in that case)
