    Managing your brand on Youtube

OK, so this is not another shameless plug article, rather I found something very alarming on youtube today...

When you type in Andalee, a play list comes up called "Big t*tty Belly Bance"!

OMG! Wha? ..c:: I know I've got the girls, but this is very bad PR. Does anyone know how to remove themselves from a playlist? What things can we do to protect ourselves from getting blacklisted on stuff like this (apart from wearing turtle necks)?

Oh lord. I am so embarrassed!

    I'd try contacting YouTube directly...

OMG! I'm mortified for you Luv! .w.:
My 'girls' are pretty good size too - but luckily I'm not on any x-rated playlists

I think you can't do anything about the playlist, you can only take down the videos.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here...

I'm not on YouTube for this very reason ,m::

I wonder if there's an option to "opt out" of lists....

I really wouldn't consider YouTube a "social networking" site, even though it has some social networking functions. You might get more responses to this question if you put "YouTube" in the title.

I sent the guy an e-mail and asked him to remove me from his list. Let's hope he is a reasonable person.

There's not much you can do about it as far as I know. If you find a way to limit or remove yourself from the lists, let us know!

In another lifetime you'll hopefully find that extremely amusing. Or when you're old and the boobs have sagged and you can tell the grandchildren proudly "When I was young my girls were so beautiful that I got listed in the 'big titty bellydance' playlist."

Right now, it sucks, and I wish I could offer a practical solution rather than make light of it.

Does he have a video of himself? Perhaps you can add it to an alternative playlist: 'Small c##k losers'???

It is a social networking site because you have a profile, can add friends, leave comments and do all of this other "social" stuff. Anyway, you may be right about changing the title though.

Andalee, that's the limit on tackiness! I am definitely going to monitor my own account to watch for this kind of thing. YUCK, YUCK, YUCK! I hope you can straighten this out!

omg that IS tacky and tasteless and disturbing and I'd be upset too if I were you.

I doubt there's much you can do about it. The internet is full of lists that various 'brands' would probably rather not be on. Risk of doing business in the modern world, I suppose.

But that wouldn't make me any less upset if I were you.

Well, the guy responded to my message:
"I have removed the videos from the play lists. I am an admirer of Bellydancing and your belly dancing is really superb. i am sorry to have added your videos in that list!! i really apologize. If you accept criticisms, i think you would really excel in dancing if you can reduce your body mass. You will become just perfect!! And Again really sorry!! "

At least he was nice about it, but seriously, don't you think I know I need to lose weight. Pointing out the obvious!

Gaffes like this are why even though he tries to be nice, he has no girlfriend and spends his time making "big titty" playlists on YouTube. Maybe one day he will learn to give better compliments, and so land the girl of his dreams.

I would be hard pressed not to reply, "If you accept criticisms, I think you should know that someone who titled their playlist as you did is exactly the sort of creepy pervert that belly dancers loathe."

Andalee, if there are other dancers on that playlist who have normal dance videos (as opposed the the nasty webcan stuff), can you message them through YouTube to let them know they're on the list. Maybe if this creep gets a few dancers requesting him to remove their videos, the message will penetrate somewhat.

WOW! he was doing so well there for a while ..l;, but his apology took a wrong turn!

I think we can't really edit how others decide to see us - I've seen myself turn up in strange places too; our world is so visual and now so "immediate". I think it's part of the the price we pay for being public figures.

My latest youtube oh-oh is seeing there's another Anthea who bellydances, so I'm glad I went with TWO names. Now I"m going back & trying to make sure both names are listed to help people differentiate between us - tho I'd hope it would be obvious

I searched for you on Youtube today and it's still got the list there. Maybe it takes a while to update though.

    THANK YOU!

I sometimes feel like a lone voice crying in the wilderness on this issue. I wouldn't, and I don't think ANYONE who considers themselves "professional" - in ANY field - should post videos on YouTube, or any other public sharing site. This kind of thing is only ONE reason among many "why not".

Yeah, I'm with you on this. Even if you disable comments and ratings, somebody could put you on an inappropriate list, or you could be the butt of a snarky thread on Bhuz, or you could become a black market porno queen in Zimbabwe and not even know it! .w.:

I'm just hesitant to open myself up for that kind of BS. If clients want video, they ask, and I send. It's that simple!

The other dancer on that playlist doesn't mind that kind of attention, so I wouldn't worry about it.
