In need of inspiration! Show me your postcards

Show me your postcards, ladies and gents!

I've been playing around with designs for about 2 weeks and am feeling really uninspired. I need to get these done by mid-week in order to have them in time for several large-scale events. The basic idea I'm going for is large picture/website (maybe a few design elements) on the front and then full contact info and "Great for XYZ event" info. The goal of the postcard is to make people who haven't necessarily considered a bellydancer for their event to think of having one..ie me!! I'm a bit torn between using another large pic on the back, or trying to use a few smaller ones to show off variety of costumes/styles/props. etc. 4x6 size, most likely color both sides, though budget might force 1 side color/1 side b+w

Is there any way to upload a pdf here? Or I could email it. You can contact me via my website.

Here's a description. My postcard is DL size, laid out in portrait orientation.

Front - images and basic info: Big pic of me plus a few smaller pics in various costumes; Name; Listing of types of gigs in big font 'weddings, birthday parties', etc; smaller writing 'also available for hen's parties, school workshops' etc; contact details.

Back - image and blurb: brief bio, including repertoire, 'for more info visit website'; contact details.

On your questions - I like the idea of one big pic plus a few showing off different costumes, esp if you can include some folkloric costumes or props. It quickly shows your versatility and appropriateness to various types of events.

I like the DL size, because they fit in a business envelope. Perfect to put in with a cover letter. If you leave the back blank, that can actually be an asset, as you can print on it. Great for gift vouchers/printing upcoming events/sending as a postcard.

Ah, I really like that idea! I'm pretty sure my home printer can handle postcards too

    Promotional Postcards...

I've done many postcards with various styles and it seems that having one really powerful eye catching image on the front works much better than a bunch of little ones. These days I try to keep the front simple, and put the "content" on the backside. I'm promoting an event, which has a different target market; however, it seems that the general rule of thumb would be to create enough of a "draw" that someone wants to pick up your postcard.

Here's some of the designs I've used in the past (the resolution isn't stellar here, but you'll get the idea):

lovelovelove the one with the card table

I did end up going with one big pic on one side, and then one big pic/3 little pics on the back along with text. Getting them printed now!

Here's mine (although I am working on a new one):

The back is blank so that it can be a mailer.

Yeah...me too. It's probably my all time ever favorite one. I kind of wish we could use it every year. LOL. But we have to reinvent ourselves constantly to keep it fresh. I do love our cards this year too, but the poker theme was a riot.

Be sure to post your postcard here so we can see it.
