Thread: Big news!

Hey there beautiful bhuzzers! It's been a long time since I've visited these boards, but I've got some big news to share. I just booked a regular restaurant gig in SF for $75 per show! I"ll be performing and booking the dancers 3 nights a week. The owner agreed without negotiation. I'm sharing this to encourage other dancers to ask for what they deserve. I hope this causes a ripple effect of restaurant rates going up for all. Believe in abundance!

The place is brand new and it's called Baghdad Nights. I'll be performing this Tuesday at 9:30 so come by and support a place that is willing to form a mutually beneficial relationship with a dancer! XXOO

I have been dying to know what would happen with this place (I live near it and have been watching the construction). When I heard they wanted belly dancing, I hoped it would bring things up, not down (though how much lower could we go here? I guess we could start having to pay to perform!).

Anyway, good for you, you deserve that and more. I will try to come by and eat and cheer you on soon!

That's wonderful, it's so much easier to get new restaurants to pay us well, than to get established restaurants to give raises! Setting the bar high from the get go is the way to do it!!!

Hey Andrea! I messaged you (check your inbox and call me! Woo hoo!)! They contacted me to dance there, too, and the owner asked me to do a show at 9pm Tuesday, so I can stick around to watch your show afterwards! I'm excited to see you and dance there! The owner made it sounds like it's a nice place, and he was very polite on the phone. Hopefully it'll be a very successful restaurant and the tips will be aplenty for us!

hope everything goes well...congrats! we need to start raising the bar here in SD. there is only one place pays $50 for one show rest is a joke, have not raised their fee for years.

Dilek, there are more places that pay at least $50! I know 2 more at least... soon to be 3.
