Ok, home sick today, and I'm watching Regis and Kelly. They bring on Miss USA (also Miss Michigan, my home state) and she proceeds to talk about the class she took to prepare herself for not being afraid on stage.
STRIPPER 101.
Then she proceeds to say they taught her...yep, you guessed it, BELLY DANCING.
ACK! She said that, and I think I threw up a little in my mouth. Seriously, besides being sick.
I would love to grab the nearest Kuchi belt and aim it at the head of the instructor of that class.

Just as you can rely on Fox News to always tell the Truth, you can always count on Regis and Kelly to be arbiters of fine cultural arts.

I'm trying to work out the implications here. Who gained and who lost ground: Miss USA, Miss Michigan, strippers, bellydancers, or Regis and Kelly? Or is this an attempt to explain the pole-dancing pictures in a positive way?

I don't have a TV at home, but I vaguely remember the BDSS appeared on R & K at one point... sparking discussions about the possibility of legitimizing BD in the public eye... in a coon's age it will... Tell me something USEFUL, please. What brand lingerie were the Misses USA wearing, I want to buy some stock.

I saw that pic, I don't think she was EVER afraid to show off her body!

She appeared very comfortable, in front of the audience!

However, that might not have been her first performance.

So, do you think she'll lose the crown?

I don't think bellydancing would hurt HER too bad, because it is part of her culter. But she hurt bellydance, that's for sure!

Oh jeez, that is sad. Not good when a high-profile woman from the culture disses belly dancing. Apparently it wasn't part of her life before she took the Stripping class? That seems a little strange. Why didn't she see dancing at family weddings, etc.

I just don't get it. It would sound a LOT more respectful if she just owned up to it and said, "I was out with my friends and did it for a laugh." Or something like that.

And why do we still act surprised when scandalous photos of pageant contestants turn up? Doesn't this happen every year? And it's not like there was nothing boudoir about the contestants' official promo shots on the Miss USA website ,r:;

Pageants seriously hurt my little brain. I wonder what's going on on the Swap Meet. LOL

I agree. I was sickened by the entire ordeal. They all (with exception to maybe four contestants) looked the same and none, not even Miss USA, were impressive at all.

Again, I have to ask how the pageant can possibly be critical or disqualify contestants for racy photos/actions when they (the pageant) are dressing the contestants in lingerie, draping them into sexy poses on a bed, and SELLING the resulting boudoir photography to the public on the official Miss USA website???

The hypocrisy is shocking. No sexy photos... unless we profit from them.
