Thread: Share what you've done with Website Tonight, Weebly, or Google Sites

I am working on getting a website up and I am trying to compare different places that offer premade templates. I was going to just make my own since I can code but I have tendonitis and the amount of typing involved in hand coding the whole thing is more then my wrists can handle at the moment. Paying someone to make it would be great but is out of the question for me right now so I want to use an online program and have narrowed it down to Weebly, Go Daddy, and Google Sites. Weebly lets you create an account and try out the template but you can't change the template color and I can't seem to find out that has a layout and color that I really like. Google sites only lets you look at a few examples of layouts and it isn't clear whether you can change the template color. Right now I am leaning towards Go Daddy's Website Tonight since you can change the color and they seem to have the most template options, but I thought it would help me decide if I could see some of the ways other dancers have used each of these places and made their website unique. So would anyone who uses any of these 3 places care to share the site you made?

You can change the template color in the HTML section. Just find the hexcode you want to replace and replace it, save it.

I'm working on a yola for my personal website right now. There are some things I like about each one and some things I don't like, but don't have time to articulate that right now. Maybe I can get back to you on that next week.

I'm still messing around with colors of template and font so that is why I have the tri colored font going on!

I love my Weebly too. SO easy to use and I love the way it looks. I have a graphic design background, and a little Frontpage experience but it is also nice to not be innundated by ads for a free site.

Sadly, it is in a major need of updates for this year (yikes), I'm a lazeee donsah! >.<

It's hard to find time to update my site. I work 6 days a week in a lab so I'm exhausted when I come from work. I've set aside time to try and keep up.

I had to downgrade from the pro to just the basic account on weebly as I didnt really have the need for it anymore. I still like the format and templates though!

I really like squarespace too, it's more expensive but offers great features and customizability.

I am just using free weebly as so far I haven't needed any advanced features Bluegrass Bellydance

I know it's not one of the three that you mentioned, but since it is super easy I just wanted to throw it out there. I use Yahoo Site Builder for my company site - you can pick a template or you can do no template, and then it is all drag and drop. No code necessary. To make my own "template" (ie: the name and links at the top of each page) I just copied and pasted them onto a blank page each time. Yahoo hosts my individual site as well (professionally done) and I have been very happy with them for the past 6 years or so.

Hi, just started my site, mind if I look at yours? Are the advanced settings in the basic? or just pro? and how is it that your url doesn't have kizziezainabellydancer.weebly.com

It's because they paid extra to get the URL they wanted.

Hey Sa'Noorah. The advanced settings is in basic. I have a basic account but I did pay extra to get without the .weebly.com at the end. It wasn't a lot of money. I think it was 80 bucks for 2 yrs? And their help desk is great. They usually respond back within 24 hours.

oops! Sorry I missed this. I bought the URL from bluehost and then had it redirected to Weebly.

Here is a site I made with Yola. Almost done, but not quite there yet. I am still not sure if I like Yola or Weebly better!
