How much would you charge for a wedding cruise?
Sounds pretty cool, right!? I'm just not sure how to price this. I usually start private parties at $250 for a standard set, but this is a unique situation. Since it's on a boat, I clearly can't leave after the set is done!!
So, how much would you charge for a 3-4 hour wedding cruise? I would also have a little travel time to get to the venue, which I need to see if I can do via public transportation (as I don't have a car)

Re: How much would you charge for a wedding cruise?
Was this on Gigmasters?

I definitely wouldn't cheap out on this one, because it'll be a giant block of time and a lot of waiting. Not only will you be on the boat 4 hours, but it also takes time to get ready, drive out to the port, board the boat, wait around on the boat 4 hours, get off the boat and get home. (At this rate, you might consider getting a hotel in the area if it's too far to drive back). You probably will have to turn down other gigs that night, so take this into consideration, too.
Waiting to hear what others say, but I think I'd charge at least double my wedding rate...
(ETA: My wedding rate starts at $350).

yup, Gigmasters it was. All good points to consider.
I'm also thinking of a hilarious all BD version of "I'm on a boat" right now :)

Re: How much would you charge for a wedding cruise?
I would charge what I would get for 2 gigs, so basically double my price. Reason being you would be able to book another gig if you were on dry land, but since you are stuck on the water, you can't! Don't worry about charging too much - brides are used to paying more for all their vendors just because it's a wedding (I speak from experience as the bride!) and I'm sure they are dealing with higher fees from everyone since it's a boat.

Yeah, this.
Also, if you get picked for the gig - do you have somebody who can go with you for moral support and safety? I hate to bring up the Worst Case Scenario, but I recently did a gig where a drunk, belligerent party guest followed me to my dressing area and harrassed me after the show (ironically, it was from Gigmasters). Happily, I was on dry land and hightailed it out of there at record-breaking speed. But there is something a little more disconcerting about the possibility of something like this happening offshore where you don't have the option of bolting....so please consider this, and be safe.Last edited by SatinWorship19; 07-02-2010 at 09:32 AM.

You might want to make sure that you & your escort have a reasonable (not the head!) private space to wait out the 4 hours so you don't have to mingle with the wedding guests. You could even use that space to get dressed/madeup so that would cut down on your hanging around waiting time.

what about an onshore gig that wants you to be there four or five hours? Same principle?

Sorry Satin this was from before I had your other responses on the other thread, I asked that question. I think they thought I would do each number spread out.
