Thread: FREE advertising for your website or page

What other business will provide you with FREE advertising to your website (or facebook page)..coming soon, I will be creating a links page on the main site and the wordpress blog, each time a customer or wholesaler makes a purchase I will add your link to the page. If you are an existing customer, hang tight, you will be added. The page will be posted to help us all network in the bellydance community. Details soon (have to figure out the best way to do this)...I'm going to also figure out a way to make a highlighted links section for full time wholesalers.

open to suggestion on how to do this? add a page to the existing site? and include a link to the page in newletters, etc?

yes, definitely a "Links" page. maybe with 2 sections, the first with your full-time wholesellers, the second with the rest.
you're definitely going to have to use some sort of classification (especially in the 2nd group), because it could become very big, very quickly, so if it's just a long list on links.... even if it is just ABC order, or location.

thank you...yes I'm thinking alphabetical order and then divide it between US and other regions. I might be biting off more than I can chew but am thinking of doing a spotlight type thing too..

troupes that order veils will also get a link btw :)

instructors, if you don't have a website maybe you can provide contact info of how to reach you about your classes

Not a Search Engine expert, but you might want to look into the ramifications of having lots of links on your website, especially in one place... I recently read of some possible negative repercussions.

Also, what is the goal of this links page? You are not evaluating links for quality of information or teaching or performance... so it seems to me the person who might find it of most use is someone who would like to know who your customers are.

the goal of the links page is to provide free advertising as the akai site gets a lot of hits each month..

I've read in the dummies web marketing book to have only 50-60 links per page. It said you can have multiple pages with links, but just not to go over 60 on each page.

you might up the benefit for your own site if you asked folks to send you a link to the page on their site with a picture of your veils being used? That would be more helpful to me as a potential customer as well.

If I go on your site & actually look at the links page (which I admit is not all that frequently unless I have a serious case of insomnia!) I would first look at vendor pages, then browse through image links, or at least likes that gave me reason to be interested- but page upon page of links to random dancer sites wouldn't be of much interest to me.

Why does someone want to see a list of your customers? A list of links is not advertising. It is just a list of links. It does not spread the word about what they do and what they offer. Somebody would have to click each one to find out about them. And your customers include dancers all over the world. I can get a list of dancers all over the world by Googling.

If you were not selling your silk online but instead only offering it through certain sellers, a list of "where to buy my silk" would be truly useful. A list of a hundred websites of sellers, dancers, dance troupes, people who like to wear silk clothing doesn't sound too useful.

UGHHH enough said, good point! I remember when ebay used to post the identity of your buyers (not sure if they still do) and someone was harvesting my contacts.
