Delivering a Message to the Birthday Boy

I could've sworn there was a thread about this a long time ago, but the search function's turning up nothing.

I have a client who wants me to pass along a brief "Happy Birthday from ______ and ________" message to the Birthday Boy and I'm brainstorming some cute ways I could possibly slip this into my show. I could always keep it simple and hand-deliver him a card after my set, but was thinking along the lines of Lauren's balloons-tied-to-a-sword trick

    Anybody have any quick tips?

I always left them with a (quarter-fold) card, pesonalized to them with their name, and who "gifted" them; with my picture (& of course contact info on back). Something they can show people!

In my grams I read them the card first (I have a special poem for grams), then danced. I like doing that because it settles everyone down, you have a chance to arrange the room the way you like, and last but NOT least, in my poem it said "not to touch" but in a nice, funny way. To me that beats the "surprise entrance" method of doing grams.
My full gram how-to info is here:

Anthea, you rock! Hammy as I am, I'm rather "challenged" when it comes to certain aspects of bellygram kinda gigs. Probably because I don't do many of them. So this is all very helpful.

The pre-show poem is kind of a cute idea. Off to read your suggestions

I thought this was for Buddha's birthday. What sign is Buddha?

I think Budd Boy is an Aquarius. Like most of my Aquarian friends, he's easygoing and gets along with everyone. Then again, this describes 9 out of 10 pugs ..l;,

Going back to the original question, I don't think I'd deliver Buddha a birthday present unless it was something he could eat, or maybe a new tutu. ..l;,

LOL. Good to know due to my sun sign I am like 9 out of 10 pugs. ..l;,
Anthea, as always your info is SO helpful.
Satin, another option is to go to one of the online print shops and have cards printed with your info/pretty picture etc. You can fill in the personal message.
Nimeera (of CLEOSCLOSET.COM) saves coins from hip scarves and ties them on little ribbons as party favors at "Arabian princess parties"... that idea could be combined with a card- and a few coins could be tied onto a card.
The balloon and sword idea is fantastic. But for those who don't want to stop at a store, coins and cards also are cute.

Seriously....I could only hope to be HALF as charming and good looking as my lil' pugster! Just like you, Buddha attracts new fans wherever he goes ..l;,..l;,..l;,

Awesome suggestions, though. This is short notice, but the custom greeting cards are an excellent idea, especially with coins. I'm not exactly sure what my odds are of finding a plastic sword, or the time to stop at the store and get balloons!

Wow, Buddha and I are the same sign. I knew I liked him for a reason.

The poem is a cute idea. I've also given the birthday boy a certificate at the end that says they've been inducted into the Navel Academy. Cheesy, yes very. But it works.

OT...but had to share. My husband told my father that he figured out why I was a belly dancer. It was because I was born at the Naval Hospital. LOL. (GROAN)

Head balance a plate with either a small Birthday cake or a piece of a larger one, with the card attached. Present cake at an opportune time. Those floppy paper plates balance GREAT!

we call then "desert dance o gram"
it says who it is to, what it is for, who it is from. the dancer who does the gig puts her first name only on it under the agency # and web info. the card matches our letter head and cards...

I got a tip from a good friend about bellygrams. She would heat press or use glitter puffy paint a message on a strip of fabric (anything will do) and use it like a veil. It's great for photo ops and makes a nice gift to leave the birthday boy with (especially if you tie it into a turbin for him). I'm going to make one this week for a birthday party.

    I don't think I'm familiar with the balloons/sword trick. What's that one?
