Facebook Group for Event Promoters & Sponsors
I started a facebook group that is geared towards belly dance event planners, promoters, & sponsors. I know there are already Biz of Belly Dance groups in various places, but this one is more specific.
Professional Belly Dance Promoters--Facebook Group
Hope to see you there.

Yay! I joined. I only do a small monthly hafla, BUT bring in live music, always have Arabs in the audience and am fortunate enough to have Leila of Cairo perform as well along with really stellar dancers who happen to be local.
I'm going on month 7 and am always looking for ways to improve.

I joined too although I am just a "baby" BD event planner. I invited all those in my network that do events etc. Looking forward to reading about others' experiences.

Sounds interesting -
I don't sponsor workshops but I do approach all my shows with the same respect for professionalism, trying to instill these concepts by example with my student performers.

I don't feel any sort of strong conviction that you have to be an event planner to join the group. If you merely want to learn from other folks, that's great too.
My theory is that the newer planners would benefit from the experience of the more seasoned folks. Personally, I'd rather share my ideas and see the overall standard improve than to horde my thoughts and have the overall community get damaged from poorly organized events.
@Maura, this group was really Brad's idea in the first place. I'm glad he's there too. I could talk shop with him all day. His contributions on tribe were always thought-provoking.
