    Flyers?

Hello bhuz community, I have a question about posters/flyers. I have a job teaching belly dance classes however they don't start till January. I'd like to get the town I live in and a few surrounding ones interested as well as invite them to sign up for private lessons which I am teaching at the same studio. So my question is: are flyers effective? Should I just go dropping them off at local businesses? Has anyone done this with either positive or negative results? Let me know :) Thanks!

    Re: Flyers?

I have had mixed resultes with posters/flyers. I've tried just posting the informtion on one large flyer, but people who want it take it... leaving no flyer. So, I've tried the kind with the little tabs you pull off the bottom. They work better and stay up longer.

Business cards work well too. I get a better response from word of mouth about my classes. When you are first starting to build a class, you may have to try more than one thing.

    Good luck!

As a consumer I like the pull-tabs. But for more info I like the option of an envelope with business cards attached to the flyer. Better of both worlds, double the opp to have the info available plus more space for info on the card.

    Re: Flyers?

I do the fliers with tabs only 2 weeks before a new session starts- and keep business cards on most of the bulletin boards in town whether a flier is up or not. I do a half size flier & find that it actually gets more attention than the standard 8.5x11 because it is different & easier to find space for on a crowded board.

Having said all that, my best students (the ones who thought about it for a while before signing up & end up with me for a long time) responded to a little postcard size flier I asked local businesses to pass out at their front counter- even better if they can put it in the customer's bag at checkout. vintage/boutique clothing stores have been my best advertising value for the money so far.
