Sounds like a scam to me. No particular reasons why, it just set off my scam-detector.

me too. I don't understand why they would want me to find a location for an event they have given no details for. I try not to put off anyone just for bad spelling/grammar because, lets face it, we're all guilty of that at one point in our lives, but this just seemed odd to me.

    Re: Strange email

Try to get him to call. Sometimes that is enough to scare away scammers. If he is for real, send him a party planner phone number (unless that is part of your service to find venues). My scam detector is also ringing. The "details" are very vague for the amount of typing. Then they have enough money to provide travel for "exclusive" guests, but he says his budget is small.

I got something like this a while ago that I wasn't quite sure for the longest time if it was for real or not. I emailed back and forth with this guy for almost 2 weeks before bailing.

The guy went on and on about some huge party and their huge budget. Even gave me a venue name that was legitimate. Red flags started coming up as he averted answering detailed questions and wanted my home address so he could send a driver to take me to the gig (for my convenience)....I ended up calling the venue and found out that no big event was going on the date he said. He also wouldn't call me by phone. I politely emailed back that something came up and I couldn't do the gig.

    Re: Strange email

"located in your location" to me screams that this is a mass email sent out to dancers in lots of different locations. I would expect that a legitimate request would mention Chicago, or at least the Midwest.

"foreigners mostly westerners and not much of asians"

    Wha the????

    Re: Strange email

I wouldn't bother emailing him back... it is without a doubt in my mind a scammer... the language of it wreaks of the scams found in all other aspects of scammation. Besides if his command of the english language is THAT horrible, he would likely get your name on the check wrong or pay you in dinar.
