Thread: 2010 and 2011 rates for Metro Detroit

Thank you Detroit dancers for putting this list together.

Nightclub or restaurant show - per set - $100
Second set at club or restaurant (with or without costume change) - $75-100
Nightclub or restaurant show in Flint or Lansing - $150 per dancer
Special ticketed events hosted by singers/promoters at "clubs"/banquet halls - $150-200
(Note: In the past dancers have been paid $100-150 for these events, and we need to charge more for these events, which are sometimes presented as if they were nightclub shows. Don't fall for this line and remember to ask questions!)

Wedding - dinner show - $250
(Note: If clients ask for a shorter show do not lower the price - $250 is a set price regardless of show length - which is average 30 mins)
Wedding - zeffa only - $200
Wedding - zeffa AND dinner show - $300-350
Other formal events (christening, birthday, &c) - $250
Private house party - $250
Private house party - 2-3 song set (15 min) - $200 (Usually non-Arab clients)

We have this issue around here with promoters who act like they're doing you a big favor and someone always falls for it.

Both. For the most part it is the going rate, and has been for several years, but you see the comments where the dancers should be wary and charge more.

I think one of the biggest changes is charging for a second set at a nightclub. Typically, in the past, the dancers got paid a nightly rate, whether they did 1 show or 3.

This is similar to what we charge in Toronto which is kinda-nearby. We also charge more for travel time. If you're interested, my website has a very detailed break-down which is nearly identical to other dancers/company's rates in Toronto. :)

Oh, and GTA stands for "General Toronto Area" and includes communities on the outskirts.
