Clue me in: Princess Parties for girls
Does anyone do princess parties for girls? If so, what age ranges do you tend to work with? What do you do with them? I belong to a pretty big mom's group, and would love to advertise such parties, but I beyond having small children bopping around in hip scarves and dressing the birthday girl up in an age appropriate costume, I'm not sure what is usually done for them (or how much one charges). Thoughts? Guidance? Thank you!

Re: Clue me in: Princess Parties for girls
If the search function is working, have a look through previous posts, because there's been threads before on dancing for little girls, and ideas on dance-related games and activities you can do with them.
I do kid's parties, often for kids aged 6-8, then around age 11-13. Age 5 is the absolute youngest. I generally go for about an hour, but warn parents that it's not unusual to only get 45 mins out of them up to about age 7. What I've found is they'll suddenly get distracted or hungry and, before I know it, they've all disappeared outside or to the food table!
For the littlies, I juggle sessions of teaching moves, putting them into a short routine (2 combos, repeated), dance games, and a very short performance while I dance (and they have a drink), and free dancing. The key is to keep changing, as their attention span is so short. And if you give them a break when you allow them to leave the room, you'll never get them back again!
You can spend about 10 mins dressing everyone up upon arrival (I provide a costume for the birthday girl and a big bag of scarves for everyone else). It's a fun way to start things. Note: littlies will have strewn their costumes across the room within 30 minutes!
At age 11 up I can teach about the same as I would for a hen's party - dress up, warm up, basic fast moves, watch me perform, basic slow moves, put it in a routine, cool down.
