Please Help -I need to set a price for a video gig
I am so excited that I was asked to be in a music video. (I'm secretly hoping it's the first of many) But, they asked me to set a fee. They figure I may be on set for 10-12 hours for one day. But, it may go over -or under. So could I give them a flat rate for whatever time they'll need me for.
I'm stumped. Should I average my hourly rate or is there another system for figuring out these things?

We discussed this on Biz of BellyDance tribe but I cannot find the thread. However, I do have these links:

DanceSpirit magazine: I always like to look at what other dance genres get:

Re: Please Help -I need to set a price for a video gig
Ask and ye shall receive ..g.:
I did do a music video - just a small project for a local musician. Stupidly, I didn't really know what I was getting myself into, and charged a flat rate on good faith that I'd get out of there in the number of hours the director said it would take. BAD mistake. If I ever do a music video again, I'll charge an hourly rate. (Or at the very least, a day rate plus overtime). Maura's info is a great place to start, price-wise.
Music video shoots are insanely fun, but they never run on time. Expect a lot of sitting around, doing nothing, holding uncomfortable poses for long periods of time, taking direction from non-dancers, and working your butt off in general. It's definitely an all day ordeal. So don't book anything else that day unless you've committed the musician and director to getting you off the set in a certain number of hours! (And remember to eat your Wheaties!!! LOL)
Please PM me if you have further questions!Last edited by SatinWorship19; 11-10-2010 at 10:14 PM.
