Thread: Examples of great promo clips?

I want to be able to show a video editor the kind of thing I"m looking for -- a series of clips edited together into a brief promotional video with good use of music and minimal freaky deaky transitions.

This would be for my troupe, but examples from individual dancers would be good too.

What have you seen that you liked?

Here is my own promo as well. I had to put it together really quickly and it needs some work,,but I think it came out pretty well...

Lauren, my bf did this for me using still photography, but he can also do it with footage. He's a web guru and I'm sure he can whip something up for you, if you're looking for a person.

I liked the Ranya Renee clip because I liked that there wasn't one sound track for the whole thing, i.e. the actual music that she was dancing to in each clip was heard. I prefer that style to the style that seems to be so popular of having one upbeat song with a thumping bassline going throughout the entire clip. It just doesn't work for me, but lots of people seem to like it. Ranya's clip showed so many different moods and styles. Her clip was a bit long and needed more contact info earlier in the clip, but other than that I loved it.

I agree! Dancers and dance fans respond to those type of clips because it highlights the kinds of things we want to see. :) However, the "music video" highlight type of clip really works well for commercial stuff. I think its nice to have both. I also think most promo clips should be kept to about 4 minutes.
