NASTY B*TCH! caution!
hi all,
hope this is the right place to post this. please be careful of you lovely costumes when they are left unattended in a dressing room.
last night at the beirut nights competition in los angeles:
i was in the dressing room. decided to use the ladies room. took off my skirt and belt. placed them on my dance bag. returned to find a large hole cut in the net of my original madame abla skirt and a pair of scissors on the floor!..cr.: i am angry beyond words!
i know who did it! what a nasty b*tch! i will not say her name b/c i can't prove it and don't want to be sued. what i do want to say is that even though i will not post it on line, this act will not go unnoticed.
to the offender:
the community will be warned about you and your reputation will be affected accordingly. i don't know if you are a bhuz member, bhuz lurker or what, but please know that this type of behavior is childish, nasty, unacceptable, and obviously very bad sportswoman-ship and will not be tolerated in our community. did you get this behavior from a page of the tanya harding school of bad sportsmanship?
if you feel that you can not compete on your own merits, then perhaps you shouldn't compete. if you feel the need to destroy other people's property to make you feel better/more successful i suggest you stay in your home until proper psychiatric help is secured. what you did is a crime against the property of another, and if i had proof i would have you charged.
i can repair my costume. i hope you can repair your defective brain. you are a hazard to the community and should be treated as such.
bhuzers: thank you for providing a forum where i can post this rant/warning.
i think we all take the security of dressing rooms for granted. obviously i have, and will not do so in the future. please watch your belongings carefully. especially when dancing with a certain fame crazed, narcissistic young b*tch from l.a.

OMG. thats unbelieveable. you are a better woman than i. with how much an Abla costs, I would have jumped on her. then i'd be posting from jail tho. you've doing the best thing by handling it better. were you able to compete?

I will add to, that this is not the only industry where I've seen this happen. I used to show dog, and it would happen allot. One of my BFs is the top breeder of Pekinese in the nation and someone did it to her top dog, took his tail hair completely off, couldn’t be shown or compete in Best in Show. it sucked. I've also seen it happen w/ Horses and their tails in western classes. just stupid and sad. ;(

That's just sick. Only a mentally disturbed person would do such a hateful thing. I've heard stories about incidents like this before....burning cigarrette holes in costumes and cutting them up or even stealing them, I've just never known anyone that it actually happened to. I'm so sorry to hear it happened to you.

That is just horrible. I would have kept the scissors as evidence and reported it to the police. It could have had her finger prints on it. Damaging personal property is a crime!!!

wow. I don't understand how people can possibly justify behavior like that even to themselves. I'm floored. I'm so sorry this happened to you.

If this dancer has to stoop to a level of damaging another dancer's albeit very expensive costume, damaging someone else's personal property...she must be really, really insecure about her dancing!!!
That is pathetic, sick, twisted and down right evil. I'd bet if it happened to her, all hell would break loose. No sane person would do that ,m::
I'm so, so, so, so sorry that happened to you. And like desertrose said...karma is a *****!!!

OMG!
I can't believe that! That's just disgusting that a person would behave that way. Really disgusting.
I feel so bad what happened to your costume.....I hope it can be fixed so that you can't tell it was cut.

So sorry to hear this happened to you!!! It boggles my mind that some people think this is appropriate behavior.
A while back here on bhuz, some skeptical people claimed that they had never heard a first-person, verifiable story of this kind of sabotage, only "friend of a friend" accounts, and therefore they insisted that such things didn't really happen to people. When I posted that one of my friends discovered (at a dancer's showcase night) that someone had dumped rat poison in her bra cups, these fellow bhuzzers all attacked me, saying they were sure that this was not the work of a saboteur, but rather an accident in which someone may have accidentally bumped the rat poison and caused it to fall off the shelf onto her costume. Nothing I said would convince them that this story was real sabotage.
I hope those people are reading this thread, so they can learn firsthand from a victim that yes, this stuff really does happen. Then again, if they are, they'll probably say the scissors got up on its own and did that without any human intervention...

Just looked at the link and I have to say that the pic. of Mike Batayeh is very handsome. Who is he?
What a lousy thing to happen. I wish there was a video camera or something to show her in the act of the crime.
10-25-2007 03:28 PM #18I am floored by the behavior of some people. I'm not surprised, which is sad.
I had someone throw glass on a dance floor once.....
I am sorry that this has happened. It amazes me how people can even THINK of doing these things.

How absolutely horrible ,m:: ..cr.: ,m:: ..cr.: I suppose knowing that person lives a tiny, stunted bitter little inner life is no consolation for the mutilation of your Abla
I can't even begin to understand what kind of person would do such a thing.

thanks for all your support. yes this stuff really does happen.
that rat poison story is disgusting. the glass on the floor is not new either. when i was in ballet, glass in the point shoes was common at important auditions. i remember at the college dance dept. auditions, we were straight up warned not to do this type of stuff. guess it is that common that they have to warn against it. some people are so sick.
fortunately i am still in l.a. today and will go down to the garment district and hopefully find some net to patch the hole in an inconspicuous way, and some beads to repair with. i will rename the costume to "survivor". she is red and gold. i love her dearly and hope she can make a full recovery.
michele75: mike was the mc for the event. he is also an entertainer in l.a. you can check out his myspace i guess. he seemed like a nice guy. don't know if he is looking :)

If you have the scisors you could maybe have a finger print test done? too CSI? But I think it would be the only way to fully understand who did it.
I have been to many costests but luckly this never happen, and I never leave my stuff alone.
I think you should go foward with this...to prevent it to happen to somebody else.
Good luck!

I believe in Karma. What goes around comes back around. So what she did will come back to haunt her and get back at her one day.

What a nasty nasty malicious person. Such acts place such people way below cockroaches on my list of gross and disgusting. May the silverfish moth get into all her costumes and munch holes all over each and every piece.
What a nasty piece of works! <shudder>
I hope you can repair your costume and you have many more successful wearings and shows.

Shira,
I think it was in the documentary "Bellydancers of Cairo" (someone correct me if I'm getting the video confused with another) Where Eman Zaki said that something similar happened to her. She mentions something about sabotage and someone cutting up her costumes, and that it was enough to scare her out of performing anymore so she began to design costumes for dancers. Apparently this kind of deranged behavior is not so uncommon.

Oh my gosh Sabrina!!! Pretty sure I know exactly who you're looking at from the wild scene after last night's competition. Yikes -- she's insane!! Karma will catch up to her (if you don't first).
Congrats again! I think I'm gonna post A REALLY BIG photo of the winners and email a link to all the contestants... ;)

That is absolutely horrible. A dancer friend of mine refused to leave her costume bag backstage at a recent competition (not the MBC), because she had heard horror stories of stuff like this happening at them. I think these things are certainly the exception rather than the rule, but I believe that they can and do happen. Someone would have to be seriously disturbed to do something like this, and I'm sure they'd act out in some other way even if they weren't able to enter a competition.
I am so very sorry this happened to you!

It's tough to look at that website with all the dancers' pictures. I'm looking at all of them as suspects right now, which certainly isn't fair to the innocent ones!

I've joked about this being the reason that I won't compete, but that sucks, I'm so sorry that happened to you!
