How did you format your belly dance resume? and what did you include?
I'm trying to re-format mine but it seems like its impossible to keep it on one page. I don't want to have too much information but I don't want to have too little.
Does anyone have any good examples of awesome bd resumes?
Any ideas on the most important stuff to keep in and stuff that can be tossed?
Thanks Ladies!Amanda Rose

Re: How did you format your belly dance resume? and what did you include?
you're going to want to have one for each job. what you might want to do if you don't have a specific job in mind that you're making it for, is to make a CV (long version with all of your stuff) and then a short resume with your highlights.
when you go out for a specific gig you can pull from the CV the relevant work you've done to make a job specific resume.
if you broaden your search and look for resume tips for any job im sure you'll find a bunch that will also apply. just remember that for dance you can be a little less formal and let your creativity come out so long as the whole thing still comes across as polished and professional. i think there was a thread recently where Lotus posted along those lines and included some great examples ^_^"there is a bit of insanity in dancing that does everyone a great deal of good" -Edwin Denby

Re: How did you format your belly dance resume? and what did you include?
I wish I could figure out how to attach my resume here, but I think including pictures on the resume really helps. Also, make sure your name is big enough to remember and your style is clearly defined. I also have 3 main sections squared off titled Background (training, teachers & inspirations, style, etc.), Performances (this would include your top 5 gigs that you have done, any restaurants you perform at), and Teaching Experience (classes or choreographies).
Make sure you list all your contact info and make it very clear what you are available for (workshops, classes, performance, etc.) Good luck!

Mine is on my website...It's already out-dated though. I find they are so hard to keep up with!

Re: How did you format your belly dance resume? and what did you include?
I thought the format suggested by this site was very successful. I implemented it in my resume (along with a pic, full body), and have received good responses about its clarity.
Sample Dancer Resume
Mine includes sections for:
Depending on who I'm sending it to (or what for), I switch the order of the teaching/performing experience sections
Footer on both pages includes page #, on the second page, email, phone # and website (as that's in the header, in full w. mailing address, on the first page)

Re: How did you format your belly dance resume? and what did you include?
I thought I would post from the other side of the coin, since I am receiving a fair number of belly dance resumes as part of our online audition process for the Las Vegas Intensive pro-shows.
For myself, I just want a general overview. Truthfully, I don't scour the resumes, but I do notice if you have one. A well done resume tells me you are a professional. We get so many candidates, that we ask people to send us a resume as part of our weeding-out process. If a dancer can't follow instructions, it'll tarnish their reputation with us and we are far less likely to choose them.
The fact is, that only a handful of people will actually do what we ask. This speaks volumes about their reliability.
