Tipping at restaurant haflas
What is the general opinion regarding tipping at restaurant haflas?
If there are 10 dancers, and some don't get tipped-is that ok? Or is it better to have a tip basket and evenly divide all tips?
I have my own opinion on this, but eagerly want to hear others' thoughts.
thanks!

I think there should be a tipping basket--and if that is the case, there should be announcement made about tipping.

Our local monthly hafla organizer places a basket at he front of the stage and splits tips evenly among all dancers at the end of the evening.

This is difficult. Is it a stage show, a floor show, and dance between the tables show? Are the dancers bringing their own guests who may want to specifically tip "their" dancer and not the rest? Is there a house dancer who normally will receive more tips than the guests? And how do you stop a client who really wants to tip a particular dancer? I know one many who tipped his daughter $100. Do you add that to the pot? So many variables.

Re: Tipping at restaurant haflas
Thanks for asking Tahira.
It is a floor show-no stage. Dancers can stay in one spot, or move all over. Dancers bring their friends, but there are also people who come for the show.
It was mentioned that we should discourage body tipping and money showers and encourage the tip jar. I was not a fan of that idea.
If we had a tip jar, I would be ok with splitting the tips; however, I would have a problem with discouraging body tipping or money showers. That is a lot of fun for the patrons and they want that money to go to that dancer.
I was purposely vague, but perhaps a little too vague.
Thanks.

Nothing to add that is relevant, but when I saw the thread I thought it said "Tippling" at restaurant haflas.

if someone's out there moving you... show them your love/appreciation! I think tipping money showers or anyway to individual dancers is totally fine... a tip jar is a nice gesture too but probably not really worth it if there's a lot of dancers in the show.... tipping's more about the gesture anyway.. showing the love... so that's my opinion. I wouldn't over complicate it
