high quality video camera and user-friendly, advanced, video-editing software
Hi, Not sure if I am posting on right forum. If not I am sorry and just let me know where I should post.
Not seeing what I am searching for on forum, so hopefully this is a new post.
Searching for recommendations on high quality video camera or features I should look for when shopping for one.
1. Want it to be able to record performances indoors/low light.
2. Good quality
3. Not be WIDE format, who wants to be shorter and wider on video
4. Great zoom capability for let's say whale watching.
Also searching for user-friendly video-editing software:
1. Be able to take parts of different video performances to make promo clip.
2. Take off bits of music from old clips and add 1 new song to new promo clip.
3. Be able to change a video that was done in Wide format to regular or better yet, Tall format, lol.
4. Any other features you think are important.
Thank you!!!!

If you're a mac girl, Final Cut Pro is the industry standard for video editing. It's expensive, though and can do WAY more than you need. Surprisingly, imovie has gotten really good and it satisfies my video editing needs: easy, user-friendly and inlcudes lots of control features.

Re: high quality video camera and user-friendly, advanced, video-editing software
I have Adobe Premiere Elements, and I love it. It's the basic version of a professional program, but it has far more features than I would ever use and I've done some pretty intensive editing. Plus, it has a variety of pre-installed themes for titles, transitions, and DVD menus, though it also lets you add your own. I'm not sure about the wide vs. tall footage issue, because that's not something I've ever had to deal with, so you might want to check the specs on the program to make sure that it could handle that for you.
