Spill the beans. What's tumblr about? Is it just blogging tools?

Re: does anyone use Tumblr?
I would call it a hybrid of facebook blogger and twitter. I personally don't like it and I only got it because I wanted to test it out. I use it to post really nice pictures from my iPhone and nothing else. A couple of my family members also use it, so I follow them too. I would not use it for business purposes.

Re: does anyone use Tumblr?
yes i'm gathering that it's just another blogging tool...supposedly there's a way thru Ping to blog ONE time and have it show up on twitter, facebook, tumblr, many of the social networking sites. The premise being some of your friends might be on twitter but not facebook, etc.
I think it would be a full time job to not only sign up with all of the social networking sites available but to also maintain all comments and emails that come in from various places. As a business point of view I can agree with and see why multiple avenues of networking are beneficial and if such a service like PING exists, to make one post and have it shared along all social networking sites is really neat..but I'm worried about the follow up on comments after. I get comments from youtube, facebook, twitter, sometimes myspace although I thought myspace was dead :) , from wordpress, blogger, bhuz, and I can't keep up with all of the comments especially the requests or inquiries from customers..it makes me look like I have ****ty customer service if I don't write back..even though I do list akaisilksinfo@yahoo.com as my email. But really it would take a full time assistant just to keep up with comments :)

Re: does anyone use Tumblr?
hi Jes, I know it's crazy trying to keep up with all the sites...
I don't like tumblr either but use it too, at least, from time to time... if it worked better from my phone, I might use it more. It seems to be used a lot for photos & videos, so maybe it would be a plus for your biz.
But honestly, I hate when people always post across all the networks... tho I certainly do understand the time constraints of trying to fully USE them all!!! You also have to be careful posts don't show up twice, not sure how that happens but I see it in people's twitter streams often. ...before I unfollow them
Maybe hootsuite would be a good option for you, not sure what all social networks you can add to it, but certainly FB, Twitter, LinkedIn at least - all in one interface.
good time to throw my sites in:
Twitter (pretty good here)
tumblr for Tribe O ...moving to the muse (eh, still working on it)
