Thread: Affordable web design?

Can anyone here recommend an affordable web designer - say $500 or less? I realize web design pricing is a lot like dance pricing - a lot more goes into it than people realize, and the $1000 and up prices for most basic web design packages are certainly not overpriced, I just can't afford them right now. So if anyone has had a good experience with someone at a bargain price, please let me know!

I may be mistaken but I seem to recall Lauren is a web-mistress. I have no idea what she charges or if she still does them but it might be worth contacting her.

If you have a bit of time and already have images with text and contact info you might consider building one with templates..it's pretty easy you don't have to work with HTML or ftp crap..I use webs.com for now ..the reason I learned how to do sites myself even though they are not as fancy as other sites is I can tweak it when I need to without waiting for a designer to do it.

Flashy overcomplicated sites are a turn off anyways I'd much rather see something simple with easy to find information. I know of a bathing suit company I LOVE their suits and bought three in Bali but i won't use their website..it's a pain in the butt to find what I want and then fill out order forms and then give them credit card info. If it's not easy to find information or make a purchase they lose a sale from me. If I'm looking at a bellydancer site I'd like to see nice photos, contact info, class schedule, and a short bio. And if she is going to teach workshops/be attending any events that's nice to know. The rest I skip over. Internet surfers are impatient :)
