Fake email..dear, I want you to teach my daughters....
I have read in past treads about spoof emails. Where they want to take private lessons and pay by certified check. I think I got my first one, I don't know if that's a good thing. LOL So this is what I got in my email box.
(I took out their name, just in case)
Dear,
I am Mrs XXXXXXX....I am 55 years of age I based in Europe, I will like you to know that i got your e-mail from the website where you posted your advert as a belly dance private teacher. Then i will like you to know that my children,Amina and Cadija are coming over to your country for long vacation starting from next month, and at the same time i like them to get lesson in the belly dance, they are 17 and 18 years old, first language (English), best hobby(dancing & reading). I hope you can accept them as your student?. So i'll really appreciate it if you could be a part time teacher for them during their stay...You will be teaching them for 1 hour for 3 days in a week which will be for just 8 weeks and so do let me know the total costs you charge for teaching them for the whole 8 weeks so that we'll make an arrangement on when to begin lessons and payment (by certified bank check). I hope to read from you soon.
Best Regards.
I'm guessing this is fake, because it sounds fake. Am I right?

Re: Fake email..dear, I want you to teach my daughters....
Definitely fake in my book. I've been receiving all kinds of these types of phishings for *years*. All of these "son/daughter coming to the States (or where ever) on holiday to take lessons to learn the dance (usually within only the period of a month) are pure "stinky stuff". I tend to just not respond to these much like any of the (insert name of country) scam phishings I receive having to do with large sums of money for transfer to me/my account or other such assistance on my part.
People with legitimate questions about classes with you will ask straight forward questions. Examples: Do you teach? Do you offer classes? Where do you teach? Etc. They may or may not provide much of any personal information on themselves in their first contact (especially if they know nothing about you - they want to be safe too).

I got one of these the other day asking me for Pilates instruction. I mean, I've done a few Pilates tapes and I've never taken any classes, but apparently this person thought I was qualified...

One of my wife's friends is a massage therapist; we live in a relatively small community off the beaten path. She almost took the bait of "let me send you a check for too much money, then just refund me the difference..."
Yea, right!
If it sounds too good to be true, it IS too good to be true.

Re: Fake email..dear, I want you to teach my daughters....
My s.o. has an apartment he rents in a college town and we have seen another variant of this scam. E-mail purportedly from the UK, "Urgently seeking a place for a place for my daughter to live while she is going to school." "Mother" wanted to send him a bank check for 6 months rent (so tempting!) plus additional $$ which she wanted him "as a favor" to pass on to a friend who would be "managing her daughter's affairs in the US." Of course this passing on would have been by some untraceable means like a wire transfer, and then his bank would have found the check he deposited to be counterfeit. This "mother" went into all sorts of detail about her lovely daughter and even sent what was supposed to be a photo of her. This showed a young woman in a split midriff top with a sultry look on her face. Oh and among other things, the description of her daughter's character and interests included the adjective, "passionate." All intended to jack up the temptation factor for my s.o., I guess - but as an actual mother myself of a young woman, I had to laugh. This "mother" just had to be . . . some guy.

I've haven't received one of these yet. But then, I don't advertise anywhere.
Why don't you write back and tell them that your fee is $10 million dollars for 8-one hour lessons 3X per week? And that you only accept wire transfer, Visa or MasterCard. No checks.
Regards
