For those of you who own dance studios..

How much do you pay your instructors? How much for experienced and non-experienced? I am
looking for the average rates that studios pay for instructors for belly dance and non-bellydance classes.

I pay 60% of revenue. I do all the advertising, registration, etc. (although I ask that instructors help distribute some of the publicity materials for their classes & events).

When I taught at other studios, I sometimes got 70-80% of revenue, BUT I usually advertised my own classes in those cases.

When I got a flat hourly rate, it was $50/hour and I have paid that to experienced subs before. Inexperienced/student subs, who will be using my lesson plans, music, etc. and aren't expected to develop their own get $25.

I do the same, a 60/40 split with instructors. Flat rate for teachers in our area is usually $30-$40 per hour. I don't hire non-experienced instructors. I also offer a rental option, where the instructor rents my space and they do all the admin/promo for their own class.

Sounds fair. I am working on a business plan for a new cultural arts studio so I need to come up with an estimated income. I was also thinking about a split with the option to rent the studio. I know that some experienced instructors might not want to share a portion of their earnings. Of course, I would be doing most of the advertising for the studio, so it may work out better. I was thinking of doing a split with a minimum studio charge so I don't lose money and will still be able to pay the rent, etc. if the instructor does not bring in enough students.
