Thread: Best sound system?

What do you think the best sound system is for dance studios? I need something that will still be loud enough in a 1500s.f space with a 10 foot ceiling or outdoors. I saw another post that listed some outdoor performance systems, but are they really that loud and is the sound quality great?

I use a Bose Sounddock in both of my studios.

My larger studio is 1,000 sf with a high ceiling and I've never turned it up all the way.

That's good to know. I didn't know if they would be loud enough. How many people do you usually have in the class?

the most I've taught at once in that room is 20, but the system can surely handle more. I've used it for parties with 100 guests in private party rooms at restuarants (no idea of the square footage, but there was carpet & upholstered furniture, too, which should have absorbed some sound?) I've also used it for shows at the local mall (but I may have boosted it with an amp at that show, sorry, i don't remember).

The sounddock must have some limitation, but I haven't bumped up against it yet!

Maybe there's someone at the Bose site who can intelligently discuss how much power you need to fill X amount of space with Y number of bodies?
