USPS has a small box that is ideal for DVDs. The local POs here have the boxes free in their business area or you can go online usps.com and order them. Shipping is free so the entire process takes less than :05. I cannot recall shipping fees but it is affordable. That can also be verified via the same website. You can print the postage from home and save time in line. The postal delivery person can pick them up or you can stop by the PO, step to the counter and leave prepaid packages there. No waiting. (Around here several POs have closed so the lines at the remaining few are long and slow.) Hope some of those wandering thoughts help.

You can ship anything up to 13 ounces first class which is cheaper than priority and faster than media mail, just stick it in a padded envelope. Media mail is the cheapest and no weight limit but slow. And yes, print from home and have the carrier pick it up. USPS dot com has a postage calculator that you can use for international pricing, and they're going to be less expensive than UPS or fedex.

First Class is certainly less than Priority Mail but keep in mind envelopes, padded or otherwise, are usually run through a machine when processed. I am unaware if you can insure DVDs in a padded envelope but if not insured everyone loses. I think the small Priority Mail boxes can be shipped domestically for $5-6. International is determined by that country's postal code, on the www.usps.com website.

Re: the best way to mail video/dvds?

Anytime I’ve received a video in the mail, it’s usually just in a padded envelope and shipped with the regular mail and I haven’t had any problems. When I mail videos, I tend to just pack everything in padded envelopes (often reused ones with new labels and old writing/markings covered) and take it to the post office. Sometimes the wait in line is long, but my local post office workers are helpful and tell me the cheapest/fastest options.
