but can relate..got this email this morning (been having a rough week with two visitors from mainland)

best email of the day: Sounds like life is hectic with your visitors at home.
Anyways would you mind squeezing in an order of veils to donate to our hafla?
We are budget dancers and can't afford silk veils but if you send along business cards we will be happy to hand them out. LOL !!

When you ship them out, please slip in another one for me!

I understand how dancers feel when they are asked to donate a performance or class!

I have run into a few people like this in my journeys. Usually I got a better sob story though, they usually worked up to the sting. They get rather ticked off too when you tell them no, like they were being the reasonable ones in the conversation...sheesh.

If they are budget dancers, they better find budget solutions that don't involve a vague promise of handing out your card (yes, jesennia gave us all these free silk veils, contact her for yours!). Wonder who they shook down for costumes if they are not willing to save up to pay for a veil...

Gee, when I was growing up my parents raised me to understand that if I couldn't afford something I wanted, then I'd just have to get by without it. Or, substitute something else that I *could* afford (such as a polyester chiffon veil). Or, put aside a little bit of money every month, until I had enough to buy that luxury item I had my eye on.

Of course I will donate a full order of silk veils for your hafla. Required from your end is someone to donate the cost of silk. Someone to donate the cost of dyes. Someone to donate the cost of overhead. Lastly, someone to donate the cost of shipping. The total should be no less than $$$.
