    Getting started in corporate entertainment

Question for those of you out there in the know...
I'm looking to find locations for my instructors and advanced students/troupes to perform professionally (outside of the normal restaurant gig). I'd like to get them booked at corporate functions/events - but haven't a clue as to how to begin.

    Anyone willing to share/advise?

Corporate events? I think it depends where you're from. They aren't really an option around here that I'm aware of...

I would say the best thing is a website stating that you are available for corporate functions, and get out promo packages to the companies you'd like to dance for.

In addition to a professional website with pictures, video, and rates, you will need to put together a promo packet with your rates and send it to the event coordinators in your area. You can usually find them through the yellow pages or the internet as wedding planners, event planners, etc.

However, most of the corporate events I have danced for come from the website. A company will decide they want an arabian nights theme and then tell their planners to find appropriate performers. Most of them immediately go to the web and start searching there.

Good luck! Corporate events can be a lot of fun, but you will need to have contracts, rate sheets, etc. before many of them will book you.
