Thread: Vendors - How did you find your suppliers?

This is more out of curiosity than anything else.

I was just wondering what methods other's use to find suppliers?

Some, I found through luck and others through networking. you?

I'm not a vendor, but for a while I was considering it. I was looking for suppliers who didn't sell retail and were open to making designs I had sent them. I found one vendor online through alibaba.com, a business to business website. He was a "trusted member" of the website, so I ordered a sample costume, and overall the experience was very smooth.

If I had the opportunity to go to Cairo or Istanbul, it seems like a better method of making contacts. Then you can see the quality of their work upfront and arrange prices "Middle Eastern style," instead of relying on email and phone, which can hinder communication sometimes.
