I actually don't think there's any problem with names that end with -a or -ah. They have a nice sound to them. Yes, there are many of them, but I think part of the reason is that -a ending marks feminine in Arabic. There are certainly a lot of girl names in Arabic that end with a consonant.

Another thing to consider: if you dance at a places where they announce you, 3 syllable names that end wit an -a will sound better.
Where I used to dance they always announced us. There was a girl named Liz, they always changed her name to Leeza. There was Robin which didn't have a good ring to it (later she changed her name to a 3 syllable name ending with -a. ) When they would yell Janet, it would be lost.
Violeta! Jasmina! Tarciana! Marianna! These always sounded great.
They even changed Dilek's name, they kept yelling out a Turkish actress' (I think) name, Turkan Sorai, which I think no one understood at all, I certainly had no idea what the heck they were yelling, until I asked. Dilek even made a joke, that at that restaurant no one will ever know her name.

So I wouldn't write off a name that ends with -a.
