Thread: Business Card Feedback

Hi All!
I've been fighting Photoshop for a while now and would love to hear some feedback from you regarding my new business card.
The photo on the card is vertical however the fancy title and the contact info are horizontal, because I believe it flows much better this way. A friend of mine whom I asked for feedback said that because of the title & the contact info orientation the photo appears to be horizontal as well.

Is it how it looks like to you as well? (Cause if it is I'll have to redesign everything, because I'm not sure I like the idea of me lying flat on my back on a business card.)

With the fonts you've used, my admittedly-getting-older eyes would require me to turn it horizontal in order to read your contact info. Even the headline is a little difficult for me to suss out vertically.

hehehehe, yeah, Don't lay flat on your back. PLEASE.

I'm not sure I like the layout of the words. I adore the picture and background color. I'm just not sure about the word layout.

Yes, of course, the info could only be read horizontally. My question is how the photo is perceived because of the contact info orientation :) Does the contact info make you think that the photo is also horizontal?
Being a User Iinterface Software Engineer I have a feeling that I'll have to redesign, cause if it was a good design I would not ask so many questions :))

Yeeeeaaaaah...I think it'd get turned horizontally most often. It's hard to read vertically. I like the pic, but I think you might want to reconsider the text orientation if you don't want to be lying on your back all the time.

I am a graphic designer for a living. My opinion is that the image and wavy text are fine. The part that makes me want to turn the business card the other way is the contact info etc. Try something like this

I focused on the vertical photo first and it doesn't look like you're laying down, but I want to see your name without turning the card (or my head).

Those last three solve the problem. I especially like the last one.

Yes, I basically agree with what the others are saying. From a graphic/marketing perspective, though, just be sure to repeat the words that are the design element (your business name!!!) in the plain/small print as the first item in the text block with your contact info so people don't have to squint twist and turn to figure it out--if some have trouble reading the vertically oriented swooping text it's ok then--it can just be a logo/design element to them b/c they still get all the info.

Please ignore the black margins, these are left for bleed (I hope they do cut it according to their specs, otherwise I'm in trouble).

For those of you wondering how I managed to doodle such nice swirls check out this wonderful resource ! It has many various brushes and tutorials on how to use them. I learned so much from them!

I like your ideas and think you're getting there. The one with the ball, the ball is too large and in the wrong place, makes you and your name look crowded, compared to the ones jrcola0819 posted above. I don't like the coloring on her background ball, but it doesn't constrict your picture or shove your name over.

The second, being 2 sided, is very nice. It is simple, and shows who/what you are, eye catching rather than having to be intellectually reading a bunch of stuff (if that makes sense). Don't forget the "Oriental Dancer" part on the back. None of them look like you are lying down, either.

Are you still interested in the floral pattern I used?

I don't think it looks like you are laying down at all. I agree that the text should be on the back or in a bubble. I love the way the Sophie Oriental Dancer flows down you body, but I also really like the swirls. Either way you have a beautiful design. I want one!
