Thread: More fee advice, please!

I was contacted about working at the release party for a camera(?!?!) - the guy who contacted me said the overseas release party featured a bellydancer, and they want to repeat that here. He envisions 4 15 minute sets over the course of four hours - during each set pro and semi-pro photographers will take pictures of the dancer using the new camera. Hi res photos (and the license to use them) will be given to the dancer.

What would you charge for this? My normal rate for a 15 minute show is $200...but I feel like if I'm getting a ton of free photos out of it I should give some sort of discount (also, since I'm already THERE and in makeup/costume, I'd charge less for subsequent sets after the first one)

Advice?

I'm not sure, but I would honestly still charge whatever you'd charge a customer regardless of free photos. It's a corporate event, so I'd think they could pay it. And you're really not sure what the quality of photos are - they could all be burry or otherwise unusable, you know? Then what?

I could be wrong, though. It's not like I have encountered this before, but I'd hate for you to give them too much of a discount and get some crappy photos...or never even get them at all!

no discounts! they can pay you. the pics are just a bonus to you for being a beautiful dancer.

Just coming back from Egypt, I'm in the bargaining frame of mind - start with your highest price and then let them bargain you down to something reasonable. :-)
