I'd like clarification first. she says she has all these things, but doesn't say that they are for sale.

I'd like a detailed list of what is in each listing, e.g buyer will receive 1 full sultana, 1 full turkish (or whatever the names are). the way that it's listed seems to indicate that you aren't actually bidding on ANYTHING, just that she has these things for sale.

That is good advice and I have sent the seller a message with questions. I also mentioned to her that if she is in financial distress she might get a fairer price for her items here on Bhuz. I was able to sell a lot of things last year when I got hit on my bike, couldn't work or dance, and needed the money.

Thank you so much. It was good seeing you at Artie's workshop. I was thinking about you this past weekend because of the festival. How was it?

Yes, dancing again, with caution. And buying with caution. I have a new strategy so I don't buy more than I need: first I pick the music, then do the choreography, and then put together the costume that will enhance it. I decided I needed a Turkish set to do my "Albanian" number.

The eBayer in question did respond to me, and she may very well be honest, but I imagine that her disorganization might make buying from her a real headache. If she is not a good steward of her own resources how is she going to take care of customers? Besides, she is seriously undercutting people for whom vending is their livelihood. So there is an ethical matter to consider as well.

So I put my greed aside and took a pass on that purchase.

I completely understand about your purchasing choices. I did not dance in the festival this weekend. Volunteer at the Celtic Festival that was on the same day. Which I really enjoyed, watching the dancing was fun and I must say we need to talk some time. I am looking forward to another workshop at Artie’s but it will most likely not be until fall.

I emailed the seller and she got back to me within a few hours. She was very pleasant and got me a list of what was still available.

She has a lot of costumes, though they are selling quickly (she says). She has many of the same style costumes available in different colors - like, The Cassandra in purple/gold and black/silver or the Apollonia in orchid/silver and, say, red/gold (I don't actually have the list in front of me, but you get the idea).

It seemed like she was a little overwhelmed with emails, so that may be why she hasn't gotten back to you yet.

I need to clarify what I meant. I did not intend to cast aspersions on the seller's integrity. I just have my personal reasons for not buying costumes in that manner. I recommend reading "Cheap: the high cost of discount culture". It is a good read and transformed the way I relate to my possessions as well as what I purchase.

Just noting that on ebay, you need to be careful of what actually is in the listing. I've been burned, by not carefully reading what is actually for sale. I have no idea about the seller, and cast no aspersions on her.

I totally agree (I, unfortunately, have a bit of an ebay "problem"). She didn't list her inventory in the auction, which is very confusing. A separate listing for each, or a few listings of lots would have been a better choice.
