LOL, I've done the same thing!!! If I am with Egyptian friends then they always make sure to hang on to me. If I am by myself, I stand on the street and watch the other pedestrians. Then when someone starts to cross, I cross too . . . with them between me and the cars, hehe . . . you usually don't have to wait too long since ppl area always running back and forth in the traffic.
I finally did get brave enough to go across by myself, but that depends entirely on the area too. Sometimes I think it might be easier to get in a taxi and have them drive you across, lol!!

When we were teaching my brother how to cross streets last summer, he said that if he had to cross a whole bunch of them, he would just get a cab!
