Also, sometimes when I do get e-mail notifications, they just stop after a certain point. I know it says that "you may not recieve notification until you log in again" but I always log back in immediately.

Thie subscription feature works. If you are not getting the email notifications you should be getting it is because of these reasons 1) your email address in your profile is not correct or 2)
after a few emails from @bhuz.com your email server decides it is spam and blocks it 
or 3) your mailbox is full.
You should configure your email server to "always accept mail from @bhuz.com"
