Re: An Idea for Jes...Silk Cover-Ups?

floor length, even if it was just habotai, would likely cost a butt load and i'm not sure i want to dye something with that much fabric..it could be dyed in panels then sewn later but i'm on to projects other-than-bellydance stuff at the moment :) am playing with silk dresses and bags with painted items on them , batiking, etc. but ya never know.

am guessing the cost for the silk and the seamstress to sew it, before i dyed it, would be about 50 bucks? depending on length. then add dye costs..it would be like dyeing two veils..so i think they would be too expensive for the market to handle. my experience is that dancers prefer to spend money on costumes and an occasional silk veil that kicks ass but not so much on caftans (since we can get some pretty nice ones from india anyways)

BUT i'd love to do a really fancy handpainted charmeuse silk floor length cape but that sucker would probably be priced at over 250
