Three pieces of info that make using Audacity easier:
1. Input should be mp3 files. It doesn't like e.g. the DRM-protected files from iTunes. Lauren recommended a program called Switch that converts files nicely (but it doesn't help with iTunes files).
2. To save the result as an mp3, one needs to install extra software that doesn't come with the program (there is a reason for that, it is not neglect by the developers). The website gives good instructions.
3. Sometimes Audacity is very slow, and seems to react to nothing. Stop (no pause) the song, breathe, sip coffee, and check Bhuz - chances are it will play nice again after that ;-)
