Re: Program for editing music?
I use the consumer version of Sound Forge, which costs about $70 and is currently sold by Sony. I think they call it "Screenblast" Sound Forge. There's a more expensive (over $200) professional version which I have never felt the need to try because the consumer version does everything I need it to. I've been using it since 1997, and am very happy with it.
I also have Adobe Audition, which came with my Adobe video editing suite. It used to be known as Cool Edit before Adobe bought it. I find that I strongly prefer Sound Forge, but I don't know whether that's because Sound Forge really is easier, or whether it's because I get too impatient with learning unfamiliar technology. So the only time I use it is when I want to edit the sound in a video file (MPEG or AVI), which the consumer version of Sound Forge doesn't let me do.
